Hon's Wun Tun House (Robson)

It's been a while since I last visited Hon's on Robson Street.

This is the Hon's that I come to most often... or the only one that I go to now actually. What I like about this Hon's is that it has its own separate kitchen for vegetarians.

Also a separate vegetarian menu

I tried not to order too much this time but somehow still ended up being too full. They gave us two free spring rolls when we sat down. I forgot to take a picture of those.

I looked over the menu, although I can't be too sure but it seemed like the vegetarian dim sum section now has a lot less items than it used to be. So I picked two out of the only five dim sum items on there, Deep Fried Taro Dumplings with Curry Vegetarian Filling, Deep Fried Vegetarian Dumplings, and Rice Flour Rolls with Three kinds of Mushrooms from the rice flour rolls section.

This is the deep fried veggie dumplings. I have never had this before actually and I was totally thinking they would look somewhat more like dumplings when I ordered :P They are very filling. If I remembered right, the center was also stuffed with curry.

Deep Fried Taro Dumplings with Curry Vegetarian Filling. I really liked this :) Crispy outside with mashed taro inside.

Even though it didn't look like we ordered a lot, for two, it was a lot of food. It might also be because there was a lot of deep fried stuff. So Hon's is definitely a great place for vegetarian Chinese food. It's fairly cheap and good portions. Just be prepared that the place is quite hectic especially during busy hours!

  1. I concur on the reduced number of veg dim sum offerings. Years ago, they used to have between 6-8 items, including a vegetarian steamed bbq pork bun, which I dearly miss.

  2. yeah I agree, it's very sad to see their veggie menu being cut down to such a short list.. it's a shame that they have a full veggie kitchen too :(
