Kita No Donburi

This is from last summer, or even before that. Forgot exactly how I came across this place online, but I was surprised to see it offers more than one option of veggie donburi. Kita no Donburi is located on Seymour Street, across from Habour Centre. I met up with a friend who works downtown a few blocks away for lunch that day.

Not that big inside, it was already full when we got there and we didn't really want to wait, so they asked if we would like take the table outside. There are two tables right outside. It was a bit weird eating outside as it was right on the sidewalk and we kept getting stared at by passersby.

I had the natto don and my friend ordered the veggie don and veggie roll. I thought their price is good but the portion is really not that big.  It's okay for girls, but probably not enough for most guys.   I was quite excited to try out their veggie dons, but I would have to say the food was just alright. However, if you've never had veggie dons before, this might be a better place to try it out since most restaurants don't have veggie dons and if they do, chances are they are really just vegetables on rice with soy sauce.

Tokyo Thyme

You know one of those days that you just have that crazy cravings for natto? Or maybe not... Well, for me, it happened a couple months ago and I started searching online for where I can find some natto sushi. I actually had this kind of natto roll in mind, but it's not like I have much choices, so any natto roll would have to do! Luckily I found Tokyo Thyme in Kerrisdale that offers natto rolls :) I went in the afternoon time around 3 or 4? I can't remember anymore exactly, but they have a break in between lunch and dinner. When I went in they told me they were closed, so I actually went back to my car and waited for it to open again :P

I got two kinds of natto rolls, the Natto special and the regular natto roll. Just a note that there's green onions in the natto rolls, I didn't know until I ate them. I also ordered two tamago nigiri, DX Yam Yam roll and 6pc Futomaki. I ordered take out, the staff was very friendly and the food quality was good, I did enjoy it. They have quite a few vegetarian options on the menu too, so I know I would come back again to try out their other vegetarian items :)

NYC 2011 - Day 6

Our sixth and last day in NYC. The flight was at 10:30pm that night but we had to check out by 11:00am in the morning, so after checking out we left our luggage with the hotel for 2 dollars a piece. Breakfast was quite easy this time, my friends had requested to have another value meal at Bistro Marketplace. I didn't take any pictures this time.

It was a pretty relaxing day. There was really only one place to visit on today's schedule - American Museum of Natural History. It's funny even though that was the case, we still ended up not having as much time as we would like to see the museum.

Miura Waffle Milk Bar

Usually once a week we would go for a lunch at Yaletown and it would somehow always end up being Thai food :P This time, there were only three of us and we thought we should go for something different. Even though it wasn't the nicest day for a walk, we decided to venture our way up Davie Street to Miura Waffle Milk Bar for some waffle 'sandos', which is derived from the japanese word ンドイッチ sandoicchi, which means Sandwich. (from their website)

Shizen Ya

I was looking through my food pictures and realized I've missed quite a bit of things from a while back :( Probably about time to have them posted up. A while ago, I think it was one of those rare winter sunny days, I took a nice walk and visited a cute little restaurant on Hornby Street.

Ezogiku Noodle Cafe

It's March already, so why is it still friggin' cold?! I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one asking this question. But yeah, when it's cold, you would want something hot and noodle soup is always a good option. My co-workers have been going to one of the closest ramen places to our company, Ezogiku Noodle Cafe, by Vancouver downtown library.

Kamei Royale

Last time I was here at Kamei Royale, it was still under renovation. It's good to be back and see how nice it has become :)

Sushi California

The original plan was meeting up with some old friends that we haven't seen for a few years at the bowling alley. But when we got there, we were only to find out that the place was booked out for a private event. Good thing the weather was nice and we quickly decided we should all just go to Deer Lake for a nice walk.

Yamato Sushi

Yamato Sushi is a small place on Davie between Granville and Seymour St. I forgot to take a picture from outside, but it's painted in red and if you don't look carefully you'll surely miss it. The seating is very limited so if you don't have to eat in, it's always a good idea to do a take out.

Applause Japanese Restaurant

Took a day trip down to Seattle Premium Outlet with my brother's family. We didn't get back until late evening and we were trying to decide where to go for dinner on our way back to my place, then I remembered Applause Sushi. I went there for a friend's birthday dinner a few weeks ago. I took some pics that time but not all. I was too hungry and ate all the sushi before I realized I hadn't taken pictures yet... yeah, it still happens...

MoMo Sushi

I used to eat at MoMo a lot when I was still working in downtown. It's always always busy at lunch. So to be able to eat in, we would need get there right at noon or after 12:45. It is one of the Japanese restaurants we go often. It's a small place, about 3 minute walk from Waterfront station. Service is usually good but it's still hard to get hold of someone when they're busy.

Cats in their display window. I thought they were very funny.

Sushiyama

After a couple hours of workout at the sample sale, we got hungry.. and yes... shopping is a workout and it's tiring. When you have to fight for your size and style amongst racks and piles of clothing and women looking for a deal, it is a major workout. So we stopped by this sushi place on Broadway, where my friend usually goes to after her real workouts.
