The Fish House In Stanley Park

We were lucky, happened to pick a beautiful sunny Saturday for our friend's baby shower. It was a surprise one too, we all arrived a little early at The Fish House in Stanley Park, waiting for her to show up. I didn't know if parking was easy or close, turned out there is a pay parking right by The Fish House and tennis courts.

There were 9 of us, all mamas, two kids and one mama-to-be. It was funny how many families with babies were there for brunch that day :) I looked around and there were at least 3 other tables holding little ones, and that's just on this side of the restaurant.

Before the meals came, a basket of bread and butter came and also a croissant or a mini blueberry muffin was offered, I picked the muffin :)

There are about two or three vegetarian items on the brunch menu. I ordered the vegetarian benedict. Nothing too special for vegetarians on the menu but the benedict was nicely prepared.

The service was great, the waiter was really nice and the restaurant atmosphere was quiet and comfortable, I certainly hope we weren't too loud. It was great for our gathering, I think everyone enjoyed the baby shower there.

Capstone Tea & Fondue

This is another very delayed post :P It was a girls night out last summer, we decided to try out Capstone at the Richmond location for more convenient parking. It was about 2/3 full when we arrived, only 2 people working at the restaurant that night so the service was a little slow.

After looking over the menu, between the four of us, I think we got the ice cream truffle fondue and the cheesecake decadent fondue.

my tea

chocolate...

They didn't have all the flavours of ice cream that night, from the picture it looked like we had maybe 2 or 3 different flavours. I really enjoyed the ice cream in chocolate fondue, it was really really good. There were also biscuits, cheesecakes, fruits and breads. Definitely too much food for us. We had to pack a lot of leftovers home.

Toppings

I just love how the chocolate hardens right away into a thin crust outside of the ice cream :) So I would for sure go back again for more yummy ice cream fondue!

Kita No Donburi

This is from last summer, or even before that. Forgot exactly how I came across this place online, but I was surprised to see it offers more than one option of veggie donburi. Kita no Donburi is located on Seymour Street, across from Habour Centre. I met up with a friend who works downtown a few blocks away for lunch that day.

Not that big inside, it was already full when we got there and we didn't really want to wait, so they asked if we would like take the table outside. There are two tables right outside. It was a bit weird eating outside as it was right on the sidewalk and we kept getting stared at by passersby.

Veggie Don
Veggie Roll
I had the natto don and my friend ordered the veggie don and veggie roll. I thought their price is good but the portion is really not that big.  It's okay for girls, but probably not enough for most guys.   I was quite excited to try out their veggie dons, but I would have to say the food was just alright. However, if you've never had veggie dons before, this might be a better place to try it out since most restaurants don't have veggie dons and if they do, chances are they are really just vegetables on rice with soy sauce.

Heirloom Vegetarian

Have been very busy for the last while, but I guess that's not really an excuse for not updating my blog. Well, hopefully I will be able to update more often again. A friend couple that's getting married is in town and last night with two more friends, we all met up for dinner. We got a table for 6 at Heirloom on 12th Avenue and Granville Street. Heirloom is one of the recently opened vegetarian fine dining restaurants in Vancouver. There is free street parking right outside the restaurant on 12th after 6pm, it's quite convenient.

Inside it's very roomy with high ceilings and great lighting, the atmosphere is quite relaxing. We got there a bit after 6pm and quickly most tables were filled up. But it didn't feel crowded as there are good spacing between tables.

Drinks
Menu
We got pretty much every dish from the entree section of the menu.
Cuban Black Bean Chili
Butter Chickpea Curry
Savory Crepe
Pappardelle Pasta
Tempeh Reuben
Blue Lemonade
I ordered the Tempeh Reuben and the Blue Lemonade, and also got to try a bit of the Chili and Crepe. I didn't enjoy the lemonade too much, but the tempeh reuben was pretty good. The Chili was interesting because it came with rice(and corn chips) almost makes you feel like you're not eating chili when eating with rice. I had a bite of the crepe and I thought it was pretty good. Service was friendly and overall the food enjoyable. They have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, and they are also good with dietary restrictions. I would definitely go back again, but before I do, I would like to try out the other newly opened vegetarian restaurants first.
