Another group lunch downtown. It was a pick between Tropika and Indian food, four to two, and another two more that just tagged along :P

Golden Fortune Vegetarian Restaurant
This is our second time back at the Golden Fortune Vegetarian Restaurant. The first time was to try it out when it opened up a few months back. We drove by it a lot so we thought we should try it out. We ordered two dishes and they recommended us to get the deep fried oyster mushrooms. We didn't want to because it would be too much food, but they insisted saying that we should at least try a small order, then we gave in. When it came, it was HUGE... several pieces fell of the plate because it was too full. It was definitely not small, and valued more than 4 dollars. I think they were being generous because they wanted to make a good impression. I guess it worked too, we felt bad and thought we would go back again in the future. So we did our best, a few months later, we're back again for the second time trying out their dim sum.

The Foundation
Friday night, we wanted to find a place to sit down, chat and snack. Then we remembered how good the nachos are at the Foundation. Six of us got there at around 1030pm, waited for maybe fifteen minutes or so for a table big enough for us.

MoMo Sushi
I used to eat at MoMo a lot when I was still working in downtown. It's always always busy at lunch. So to be able to eat in, we would need get there right at noon or after 12:45. It is one of the Japanese restaurants we go often. It's a small place, about 3 minute walk from Waterfront station. Service is usually good but it's still hard to get hold of someone when they're busy.
Cats in their display window. I thought they were very funny.

Sala Thai
Mid last week, the sun came out again from hiding, so did my old coworker who is back in town visiting for the summer. A few of us got together for lunch downtown. It's been a while since everyone's at the same table having lunch. It was certainly delightful. The lunch took place at Sala Thai, although not the Thai place where we used to go, we did have food there quite a few times before too. The place is pretty spacious that I remember the first time I was there it was quite empty, but it seemed to get busier and busier in my subsequent visits.

BBT Cafe
My friend came by to hang out the other day, one of the rare chances we get to hang out in the day time and just right before she starts her new job next week too. So we thought we would go for lunch. My other friends have told me that BBT Cafe has a good vegetarian selection on the menu but I've never had the chance to try it out, so I wanted to give it a try.

Bodhi Choi Heung - Vegetarian Restaurant
It was pretty late when we got to the restaurant. Surprisingly it was still busy and it wasn't the 1st or 15th of the lunar month either. We were first seated at a big round table but it was awkwardly positioned by the entrance and front window that we didn't really feel comfortable seating in. So we asked to switch over to a rectangular four seated table and we ended up ordering a bit too much and almost had no space for all the dishes.

Sushiyama
After a couple hours of workout at the sample sale, we got hungry.. and yes... shopping is a workout and it's tiring. When you have to fight for your size and style amongst racks and piles of clothing and women looking for a deal, it is a major workout. So we stopped by this sushi place on Broadway, where my friend usually goes to after her real workouts.

Tea Time For Girls
A girlfriend invited a bunch of us over for afternoon tea at her place on Saturday. It was girls only with yummy food and tea. She prepared everything and all we brought with us were our empty stomaches :D
I really admired her courage for hosting such an event. If you think it's hard to feed a bunch of hungry guys, good luck with a bunch of hungry noisy bitchy gals. We hustled our hostess friend and another friend to cook us what we wanted and we almost teared her house down. But jokes aside though, the food was great and I had so much fun :) thank you girls~
So we started off with hot tea and waffles. Ice cream on waffles with fresh fruit on the side!! The waffle was just perfect. Crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside.

Manning Park Camping Trip - Cooking Time and Pinewoods Cafe
We have booked our camping trip for the BC day long weekend at Manning Park well over three month ago, this time with a few first time camper friends. First time for me to try out cooking large quantities of dehydrated food too. It's also to test out dehydrated meals for backpack camping later on. Meals for the trip were simple actually, hash browns, toasts, eggs and veggie hams for breakfasts. Curry, pasta and instant noodles for the rest of the days. I've dehydrated carrots, mushrooms, broccolis, yams, potatoes and lots of rice for cooking curry and instant noodles.
A deer was waiting for us when we arrived at our campsite :D
