Friend who works in Yaletown recently discovered this new Thai place by his work and he would not stop talking about having it too often, which made me craved for Thai really bad. I even googled up Thai restaurants downtown and to my surprise, there aren't that many and I've been to almost all of them already. So finally I said we'll be having Thai food for lunch and that's that.

Sitar
It's funny how it's always so difficult to pick a place for lunch at work. Even if everyone's easy on what to eat, it is still a challenge everyday. This day is pretty much like any other one, we tried picking a place to eat on our way to meet up with a friend at Gastown and we managed to agree to go for Indian food at Sitar.

Goldies
Last minute decision to join another group of coworkers for lunch, all I heard was 'pizza, let's go' and we were off. The whole time walking there on Pender Street I was thinking that we were going to go to one of the cheap pizza places for a quick bite. After we passed by a couple of them, I started to wonder where we were heading, then we stopped in front of Goldies.

Nuba (Hastings)
If I recall correctly, Nuba was on the other side of Hastings Street when it first started. I remember going there a few times maybe a couple years ago. This time, when I was about to head back to where it was, my friends stopped me and said, "Where are you going? It's right in front of you. Sure you've been there before?"
So this is where it is.
It's down in the basement.

I don't remember how we decided on having Ricky's for lunch that day, but it is just right across the street from my work, on Beatty Street and Dunsmuir Street.

I've been going to Well Tea for lunch for quite a few times already, I just haven't had the time to write about it yet. Located next to BCIT downtown campus, this is the Well Tea downtown location.

East Fusion Food
My first time back eating at Tinseltown since I started working. I remember there used to be a Chinese fusion restaurant upstairs called Wild Ginger. I'm not sure when it was closed but we used to go there all the time for goodbye lunches as there always seemed to be someone leaving the company every week. The food was not too bad and it was really cheap but we eventually had to stop going because people got tired of the food there. So when I got back, they told me Wild Ginger is no longer there but there's a new on the ground level called East Fusion Food. My friend who just started working in Gastown wanted to meet up for lunch so we decided to just go there for a try.
A show or movie was filming inside Tinseltown that day. The Christmas set was amazing. When I walked in I thought they were doing the Christmas decoration already.

Atithi
The online group coupons have become very popular recently. I got a WagJag deal for Atithi a while ago, 10 dollars for 20 dollars. To dine-in, it's only valid from Sunday to Thursday but it's good for pick up seven days a week, so I decided to just get a pick up.

Sushi California
The original plan was meeting up with some old friends that we haven't seen for a few years at the bowling alley. But when we got there, we were only to find out that the place was booked out for a private event. Good thing the weather was nice and we quickly decided we should all just go to Deer Lake for a nice walk.

Acme Cafe
Took a nice walk through woodwards building during lunch break. My first time here since the area has changed. I actually saw quite a few reviews about Acme Cafe, that's how I know about the place.

Indian Gate
I've been back to work since Wednesday. Working is definitely taking some time to get used to again but this also means I will get to try out more places downtown, if work doesn't get too crazy >.<
It's really great to see a lot of old faces and getting to know new ones :) A few of us went for lunch as an old coworker coming back soon dropped by. We didn't really know where to go at first then we finally decided to go for Indian food.

Cactus Club Cafe (on Robson street)
So I take it that most people already know that Cactus Club Cafe has changed a lot, not only with their new menu by Canada's only Iron Chef Rob Feenies, or their restaurant design and atmosphere, but also all the friendly hot hostesses and waitresses. Although my friend said they've always had cute waitresses, I'm not too sure, at least I notice it a lot more now than before.

4 Stones Vegetarian Cuisine
4 Stones is always packed with people at meal times, I can't remember if it was late lunch or early dinner when we decided to go, but we were very glad we did not have to wait for a table and also that their parking spots were actually available. The restaurant is located in a small plaza where they only have two customer parking spots and they are always taken.

Dae Bak Bon Ga
September 30 to October 15, 2010 was VIFF. We got tickets for The Two Escobars for last friday night's show. There was a lot of time before the movie so we met up for dinner at Dae Bak Bon Ga Korean Restaurant. It is on the 2nd floor next to Fogg 'n' Subds. I've been here a few times before for both lunches and dinners.

Tofurky Thanksgiving!
Last weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving. I remember that last year was my sister-in-law's first Thanksgiving. She saw Tofurky boxes in the store so she decided to get one for the holiday. My brother said they heard about it from the TV show Friends. This year she's away with the baby, so I called my brother up to ask about Tofurky, since I was curious and have never had it before. It was sold out at the Market Place IGA by his place where they got it last year, so we went to the one on Main Street and 14th Ave. There were still at least 5 boxes when we picked up ours.

Presto Cucina (Kitsilano)
We were blessed with such wonderful weather the whole week last week it was unbelievable. We took advantage of the great weather and went by two beaches on Saturday. First we cycled to UBC in the afternoon. Then in the early evening, our friends came pick us up to go to Kitsilano.
Some pictures I took at UBC.

Where to buy vegetarian products Part I
I'm not sure how many people are familiar with Asian vegetarian products, so I've decided maybe it would be helpful to write about them. They are usually either soy based or mushroom based, but unlike many western ones that you can easily get from most grocery stores, Asian ones are usually a lot more flavourful. These products are also a good start for people who are thinking about eating less meat or transitioning to a vegetarian. I have many non-veggie friends that have told me how much they like veggie meat :)
There are actually quite a few stores that sell vegetarian/vegan meat and food products in the greater Vancouver area. This time I will just start with T&T.
The good thing about these frozen vegetarian meat products is that most of them are already edible, you don't have to cook them long. So if you're not sure how long to cook them, usually getting them hot is good enough.
This is the freezer section for vegetarian products at Metrotown T&T Supermarket.
The ball shaped ones are usually for hot pots but they can also be cut up(not not) and stir fried with veggies or eaten alone, or however you would like to eat them.

Yamato Sushi
Yamato Sushi is a small place on Davie between Granville and Seymour St. I forgot to take a picture from outside, but it's painted in red and if you don't look carefully you'll surely miss it. The seating is very limited so if you don't have to eat in, it's always a good idea to do a take out.

Red Robin on Robson
Yet another group lunch downtown. We had a large group, about 9 people, so we had to find a place that has big enough tables to fit us all. This time it was a pick between Korean food and Red Robin. Korean was too far for some so we settled for Red Robin.

Applause Japanese Restaurant
Took a day trip down to Seattle Premium Outlet with my brother's family. We didn't get back until late evening and we were trying to decide where to go for dinner on our way back to my place, then I remembered Applause Sushi. I went there for a friend's birthday dinner a few weeks ago. I took some pics that time but not all. I was too hungry and ate all the sushi before I realized I hadn't taken pictures yet... yeah, it still happens...

My badminton friends have been coming here for a while as Sasaya is one of the places that's still open after 10PM on weekdays and also that it has a good page full of vegetarian menu.

Staurt's Bakery @ Oakridge Mall and Rice Ball Stand @ T&T Supermarket Metrotown
In between meal time, I was strolling around Oakridge Mall with my friend. I pass by Staurt's Bakery stand all the time but have never tried any of their stuff. I've always just walked by and looked into their display window and wondered. My friend was getting coffee from Starbucks so we thought we'd pick one thing from there to share. She pointed at the Italian Tiramisu right away as she's a big fan of Tiramisu.

No.9 Restaurant
It was nine-thirty in the morning on a Saturday, we were trying to decide where to kill an hour of time while waiting for the car to be serviced. Good thing our car shop was right across from Lansdowne Mall but the bad thing was the mall doesn't open that early. As it was wet and cold that day, we decided the only smart thing to do was to have breakfast at No.9.
